The F-35 is armed with a variety of weapons and can carry an impressive 18,000 pound payload on six external pylons and two internal bays.July 2011 the 58th Fighter Squadron of the 33rd Fighter Wing at the F-35 Integrated Training Center, Eglin AFB, FL received the first two F-35 planes.The U.S. Air Force declared the F-35 basic combat ready in August 2016.

F-104 Starfighter, 479th Tactical Fighter Wing, USAFPostage Stamp CollectionThe Lockheed F-104 Starfighter® is a single-engine, supersonic high-altitude fighter aircraft. It was originally developed for the US Air Force, but later was operated by the armed forces of more than a dozen nations from 1958 to 2004. The F-104 was designed with a unique set of extremely thin trapezoidal wings and was the first combat aircraft capable of sustained Mach 2 flight. It set numerous world records, including both airspeed and altitude records, and was the first aircraft to have held both records simultaneously.Aircraft 56-901 served with the U.S. Air Force during the height of the Cold War in the 1960s. This aircraft set the altitude and speed record for an operational F-104C reaching 92,000 feet at a speed of 2.5 Mach while stationed in Hahn Germany with the 479th Tactical Fighter Wing in 1962.Aircraft 56-901 is currently on display at the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT.

The aircraft was designed to meet the needs of the Defense Department's four U.S. armed services. The V-22 takes off and lands like a helicopter, but once airborne its engine can be rotated to convert the aircraft to a turboprop airplane, capable of high-speed and high-altitude flight.This die-cast metal model comes in 1:150 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 4 5/8 inches long with 3 3/4 inch wingspan, 2 1/2 rotor diameter (each). Model can be displayed in cruise mode , VTOL mode or in transition. Total model width is 6 inches.

NASA Lockheed YF-12Postage Stamp CollectionThe YF-12 was an experimental fighter-interceptor version of the Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance aircraft. YF-12s were used in a joint Air Force-NASA research program to study the thermal, structural, and aerodynamic effects of sustained, high-altitude flights. The YF-12 was fabricated primarily from titanium alloy and was painted flat black, which enabled it to withstand high stresses in altitude and temperatures over 500°F. The YF-12 set a speed record of 2,070.101 mph and an altitude record of 80,257.65 feet in 1965. It was never adopted by the military as an operational aircraft. It was, however, a precursor to the SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance plane.The only YF-12 left in existence is currently displayed at the U.S. Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.This die-cast metal model comes in 1:200 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 6 3/16 inches long with 3 3/16 inch wingspan.
