It was used by United States Army Air Forces USAAF squadrons during World War II. Lady in the Dark of the 548th Night Fighter squadron was probably the most famous Black Widow of the War. Credited as the last scoring plane of WWII, the Lady achieved this last victory without firing a shot, but by forcing two imperial Japanese fighters into the sea on the night of 15 August 1945. Used by the United States Air Force, it is primarily a low-level penetrator. The B-1B has long range capability and travels at high altitude with speed of Mach 1.25, and at low level speed of Mach 0.92. The B-1B celebrated its first flight on December 23, 1974 and became operational in 1986 with USAF Strategic Air Command as a nuclear bomber. In early 1990s B-1B fleet was reassigned to Air Combat Command and aircrafts were converted to use conventional and all-weather guided “smart” munitions. Its first combat mission occurred in 1998 during Operation “Desert Fox” in Iraq. In 1999 it was again deployed to support Operation “Allied Force” in Kosovo. Commonly called the “Bone”, derived from “B-One”, the B-1B holds 61 world records for speed, payload and distance. Catalina A24-88 was delivered to the RAAF in March 1944 as a PBY-5A, and served with 42 Squadron as RK-A from August 1944 through to July 1945 in the South East Pacific operations as a "Black Cat" on sea mining missions. A24-88 most famous mission was to take part in the longest Black Cat mining mission of the War, to mine Manila Harbour in December 1944 to bottle up the Japanese fleet ahead of the landings in the Philippines by General MacArthur.A24-88 was transferred to 11 Squadron on August 1st 1945 and remained with that squadron to the end of the war. On January 10th 1946 A24-88 was allocated to 1 Flying Boat Repair Depot at Lake Boga, Victoria for storage and disposal.January 1948 the hulk of A24-88 was sold for scrap but instead was stripped of it's engines, wings, and tail and converted to a house boat on the Murray River where it served for over 30 years in the Echuca area. Catalina PBY A24-88 (RK A) hulk was acquired by the Australian National Aviation Museum in Moorabbin Victoria and is currently awaiting restoration.A24-88 is the last surviving RAAF Black Cat, the sole surviving RAAF PBY-5A model of 46 delivered, and the only survivor of the 29 locally modified PBY-5A (M) aircraft converted from Amphibian to Flying Boat.

Popularly known as the "Peashooter," the monoplane had an open cockpit, fixed landing gears and her wings were braced with wire rather than rigid struts, so the airplane was lighter and had less drag. Acclaimed by pilots for its speed and maneuverability, the small but feisty P-26 formed the core of pursuit squadrons throughout the United States.This P-26 Peashooter was based at Selfridge Field in Michigan and the Fairfield Air Depot in Ohio from 1934 until 1938. In 1938 is was transferred to serve at the Canal Zone and served until 1948 at which time the U.S. Army Air Corps gave the aircraft to the Guatemalan Air Force. It continued to serve the Guatemalan Air Force from 1943 to 1954. In 1957 the government of Guatemala donated this P-26 Peashooter to the Smithsonian Institution. The airplane was restored by the U.S. Air Force in the colors of the 34th Attack Squadron that was stationed at March Field, California. This restored P-26 Peashooter is currently on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.
