Consolidated PBY-5A - Black Cat - RAAF Postage Stamp Collection This Die-cast metal airplane model comes in 1:150 scale with plastic stand. Catalina A24-88 was delivered to the RAAF in March 1944 as a PBY-5A, and served with 42 Squadron as RK-A from August 1944 through to July 1945 in the South East Pacific operations as a "Black Cat" on sea mining missions. A24-88 most famous mission was to take part in the longest Black Cat mining mission of the War, to mine Manila Harbour in December 1944 to bottle up the Japanese fleet ahead of the landings in the Philippines by General MacArthur.A24-88 was transferred to 11 Squadron on August 1st 1945 and remained with that squadron to the end of the war. On January 10th 1946 A24-88 was allocated to 1 Flying Boat Repair Depot at Lake Boga, Victoria for storage and disposal.January 1948 the hulk of A24-88 was sold for scrap but instead was stripped of it's engines, wings, and tail and converted to a house boat on the Murray River where it served for over 30 years in the Echuca area. Catalina PBY A24-88 (RK A) hulk was acquired by the Australian National Aviation Museum in Moorabbin Victoria and is currently awaiting restoration.A24-88 is the last surviving RAAF Black Cat, the sole surviving RAAF PBY-5A model of 46 delivered, and the only survivor of the 29 locally modified PBY-5A (M) aircraft converted from Amphibian to Flying Boat.

B-24 LIberator - Witchcraft Postage Stamp CollectionThe B-24 Liberator is an American four-engine, twin-tail heavy bomber, designed by Consolidated Aircraft. It was the most-produced American military aircraft, with 18,493 units made. It was used extensively in World War II in every branch of the American armed forces.The B-24J Liberator “Witchcraft” entered World War II in April, 1944 and was assigned to the 467th Bomb Group, 790 Bomb Squadron. “Witchcraft” flew an amazing record of 130 combat missions during World War II. The number proudly displayed on its nose art. It has the proud history of always completing her mission, and never had any crewmen injured or killed. The Collings Foundation currently operates a fully restored B-24 in “Witchcraft” colors, in honor of the veterans of the World War II. It is the only fully authentic B-24J aircraft still flying, the star of the Wings of Freedom Flight Experience Tour that visits over 100 cities nationwide. B-26 Marauder - "Flak Bait"Postage Stamp Collection The B-26 Marauder is an American World War II twin-engine medium bomber built by the Martin Company from 1941 to 1945. Called to service in 1942, the aircraft took heavy losses in its early days, but was still one of the most successful medium-range bombers used by the US Army Air Forces and her Allies.The B-26 Flak Bait was assigned to the 322nd Bombardment Group in England and had lived up to its name: it has been shot with over 1,000 holes, returned twice on one engine and once with an engine on fire, lost its electrical system once and its hydraulic system twice. Nevertheless, it survived 207 operational missions over Europe, more than any other American aircraft during World War II. It is currently undergoing restoration at the National Air and Space Museum.

Curtiss JN4 "Jenny" - USAASPostage Stamp CollectionDie-cast model with a plastic stand The JN-4 "Jenny" was a single-engine, 2-seater biplane built by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company as a training aircraft for the US Army. Curtiss combined the best features of the model J and model N trainers, and developed the JN or "Jenny". It was widely used during World War I to train beginning pilots, but its more significant role in aviation history was as a barnstorming and mail-carrying airplane in the 1920s.Thousands of Jennys were sold at surplus prices to private owners in the years after the war and helped awaken the US to civil aviation through much of the 1920s. The Smithsonian acquired this Jenny in 1918 directly from the U.S. War Department. It is currently on static display at National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia
