James Bond 007 - Q Glider - No Time to Die Designed for air-launched infiltration missions, the distinctive two-seat folding wing glider developed by Q-Branch was used by Agent Nomi and James Bond to storm The Poisoned Garden, the island base of the villainous Safin. Located in the Sea of Japan, the island required a rapid yet stealthy approach which only the glider was capable of achieving. Dropped from a Royal Air Force Boeing C-17A Globemaster in a compact form, the glider immediately springs open into a deployed flight configuration that, upon reaching surface level, transforms again into a submersible for the final arrival at Safin’s base. While not a real aircraft, the Q Glider was created as a full-size physical prop with an opening canopy by the No Time To Die production team for use on set. The glider prop was used onboard a real Royal Air Force C-17A Globemaster at RAF Brize Norton and in a water tank set built at Pinewood Studios to create the interior submarine pen at The Poisoned Garden. Visuals of the glider deploying from the Globemaster were created using Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). Features included retractable wings when extended they are 16.5"

Lockheed P-38L Lightning, 'Putt Putt Maru', 1945Having seen the introduction of advanced monoplane fighter designs in both the German and Japanese air forces, America was only too aware that their own Air Force was in need of upgrade as a matter of urgency. To this end, an official requirement was issued in February 1937 for the production of a new pursuit fighter, an aircraft which would have to possess performance which had never previously been seen, not only on an American aircraft, but anywhere else in the world. The Lockheed Aircraft Company were one of six companies determined to satisfy this demanding requirement and entrusted the design of this radical new aircraft to talented designer Clarence 'Kelly' Johnson, who was basically given a free rein during its development. Almost immediately, he determined that a single engined aircraft could not satisfy these demanding specifications and started work on a twin engined design, one which featured twin booms to house the engines and superchargers, with a centrally positioned nacelle for the cockpit and the fighter's heavy armament.The new aircraft looked incredible and was a radical departure from any fighter aircraft design that had gone before it, with Lockheed being awarded a contract to produce a prototype example. The XP38 was a thing of beauty and after just a short 38 minute maiden flight, everyone at Lockheed knew they had a winner on their hands. Famously, the Enola Gay was the B-29 that dropped the first atomic bomb, known as “Little Boy”, over Hiroshima Japan. It also participated in the second atomic strike over Nagasaki. Curtiss P40 Warhawk -USAAF- 2nd Lt. Kenneth M Taylor - Wheeler Field, Pearl Harbor Raid - 7th December, 1941Wingspan 6.2"Having been posted to the US Army Air Corps’ 47th Pursuit Squadron at Wheeler Field on Honolulu Island in April 1941, Second Lieutenant Kenneth Taylor quickly showed his flying abilities and was given the position of flight commander soon after his arrival. In late November, the 47th Pursuit Squadron and their Curtiss P-40B fighters were sent to nearby Haleiwa Field for aerial gunnery exercises, shooting at flag targets and perfecting their aim. At the end of a busy period, Taylor and his squadron mate friend George Welch were granted weekend leave, so on the evening of 6th December and wearing full black tie dress, they headed for the Officers Club at Hickham Field, expecting a ‘real good time’. In the morning, while still sleeping off the effects of the previous night, the pair woke to the sound of low flying aeroplanes, explosions and machine gun fire - Wheeler Field was under attack. Pulling on their tuxedo trousers, Taylor rang ahead to Haleiwa and told them to prepare his and Welch’s fighters, before jumping in his Buick and traveling the ten minutes to the airfield at high speed. Immediately taking to the air and heading back towards Wheeler, the pair chased the Japanese aircraft towards Pearl Harbor, raking any aircraft which entered their sights with machine gun fire.

It was used by United States Army Air Forces USAAF squadrons during World War II. It was the first USA warplane equipped with airborne radar and was designed from the ground up as a night fighter primarily tasked to intercept the Luftwaffe bombers attacking London at night. Lady in the Dark of the 548th Night Fighter squadron was probably the most famous Black Widow of the War. Credited as the last scoring plane of WWII, the Lady achieved this last victory without firing a shot, but by forcing two imperial Japanese fighters into the sea on the night of 15 August 1945. They became well known as the aircraft of the famous Flying Tigers, the American Volunteer Group flying for the Chinese Air Force against the Japanese. P-40s were used by the Air Forces of 28 nations and gained reputation for durability and toughness.The P-40 was the main USAAF fighter aircraft in the Pacific Ocean theater during the early stages of World War II. During the attack on Pearl Harbor, most of the USAAF's P-40s were destroyed in the initial attack. However, a few P-40s managed to get in the air and shoot down several Japanese aircraft, most notably by George Welch and Kenneth Taylor.

Its excellent capabilities and performance made it very successful for the USMC. The F4U had a long production life span and was last produced in 1952. It had a max speed of 417 mph and carried six .50 caliber machine guns or four 20mm cannons, as well as a pair of 2000 lb. bombs and air rockets.F4U aircraft #86 was piloted by Maj. Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, Commanding Officer of the VMF-214 "Black Sheep" Squadron who fought their way to fame in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Flying out of their home airfield out of Vella Lavella, the "Black Sheep" piled up a record 203 planes destroyed or damaged, troop transports and supply ships sunk, and ground installations destroyed in their first 84 days. Boyington himself claims a record 28 total kills. He was shot down on January 3, 1944 and was a prisoner of war for 20 months until the Japanese surrender. He was awarded both the Medal of Honor and Navy Cross on October, 1945. The mid-1970s television show "Baa Baa Black Sheep" was very loosely based on his memoirs.
