The biggest change was the cutting back of performance options due to the Clean Air Act of 1970 which slowed down the muscle car craze, but it didn’t stop there. From the 1972 Plymouth B-body lineup, a Road Runner with a 440 was considered top-of-the-line. In the U.S. and Canada, a total of 672 Plymouth Road Runner GTXs were produced in 1972. Of those, merely 200 are accounted for today and about 12 were painted Royal Plum accented with white sport stripes on the hood and deck lid. Most interestingly, this exceptional muscle machine is the only one known to still exist. It rolls on four Rally wheels with redline polyglass tires. Under the hood is the meticulously-detailed 302 Turbo Fire engine throwing power to the 4-speed Muncie transmission. The D series was a line of pickup trucks that was sold by Dodge from 1961 to 1980, over three distinct generations. The list of changes Dodge made to the D Series was extensive, and included both substantial mechanical upgrades as well as smaller features that could be added together to create overall pleasant experience.The custom-truck scene blossomed into a lifestyle on the West Coast, with trucks of all types used to haul cool toys. Dodge capitalized on this trend by creating adult toys with special graphics packages across many of their vehicle lines. This particular black exterior body includes the traditional Utiline bed and custom trim referred to as Gradated Sport Stripes.
