CASE PRICE Prominently featured in the 1980 Universal Pictures film The Blues Brothers, this 1974 Dodge Monaco was a decommissioned Mount Prospect police car, purchased by Elwood Blues at an auction after he traded a previous car (a 1968 Cadillac Sixty Special) for a microphone. When describing the car to his brother Jake Blues, Elwood says, "Its got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. Its got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. Its a model made before catalytic converters, so itll run good on regular gas." The sedan could perform seemingly impossible stunts, such as flipping backwards in midair and even "flying" for very brief periods of time. Miles and others would compile 10 wins with 5R002 throughout the season with Jerry Titus capturing the SCCA B Production Championship for 1965!

He is known as "Big Daddy" to drag racing fans around the world. Always a pioneer in the field of drag racing, he perfected the rear-engine "top fuel dragster design", an innovation motivated by the loss of part of his foot in a dragster accident. This design was notably safer, since it put most of the fuel processing and rotating parts of the dragster behind the driver. The driver was placed in "clear air," in front of nearly all the mechanical components, thus protecting the driver and allowing him to activate a variety of safety equipment in the event of catastrophic mechanical failure or a fire. Garlits was also an early promoter of the full-body, fire-resistant driver's suit - complete with socks and gloves, often branded as Nomex. Garlits was the first drag racer to officially surpass the 170, 180, 200, 240, 250, and 270 miles per hour marks in the quarter mile; he was also the first to top 200 in the 1/8 mile. He has been inducted into several Halls of Fame and has won many awards during his career.

"It's just something about the X-pipe Boom Tube exhaust and the individual throttle bodies that give it a wild sound," Ben Grasso says. Originally wearing purple paint, this Coronet inspired the name and theme of his new business, Plum Floored Creations. He specializes in Mopar muscle rejuvenated with modern powerplants, suspensions, and electronics. Beyond all the bells and whistles installed throughout the engine bay, interior, and undercarriage, the most impressive modifications lie beneath the paint. Ben started off with a stock-bodied car, that needed a little help. The guys from Year One came to the rescue with fresh quarter-panels, a rear window filler, and trunk floor. This sheetmetal freshening gave Ben a clear vision of the car's potential. Coupled with Plum Floored Creations, Paintshop101 gave the Super Bee a whole new flair with a relocated and heightened hood scoop, Coronet R/T-inspired side scoops, and most striking, the modified front fascia.
