CASE PRICE Prominently featured in the 1980 Universal Pictures film The Blues Brothers, this 1974 Dodge Monaco was a decommissioned Mount Prospect police car, purchased by Elwood Blues at an auction after he traded a previous car (a 1968 Cadillac Sixty Special) for a microphone. When describing the car to his brother Jake Blues, Elwood says, "Its got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. Its got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. Its a model made before catalytic converters, so itll run good on regular gas." The sedan could perform seemingly impossible stunts, such as flipping backwards in midair and even "flying" for very brief periods of time. Clearly unimpressed, especially considering the cigarette lighter does not work, Elwood slams on the gas and jumps over an open drawbridge. Jake nonchalantly states, "Cars got a lot of pickup." Elwood retorts, "So what do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?" Jake replies, "Fix the cigarette lighter." CASE PRICE Can you believe this Monkeemobile 1:18 Scale Die-Cast Metal Vehicle? The Monkees had killer tunes and clever lines, and as we all know, they cruised around in a pretty sweet ride, too. The Monkeemobile was one of the most desired custom cars of Sixties television. Created by car customizer Dean Jeffries, the Monkeemobile began life as a 1966 Pontiac GTO before it was chopped, tweaked, and twisted! Its original design featured a huge 6-71 supercharger fitted to the exposed engine giving the car so much horsepower that the TV cast found it hard to control! Later, this setup was reduced to a mock supercharger mounted over the stock Pontiac engine. Two Monkeemobiles were constructed - #1 was used on the TV show while #2 was built as a back-up car and stunt car if needed. Its main job would be the show car circuit of the 60s. Life-size stand-ups of all four Monkees traveled with the show car and were displayed alongside the car. He is known as "Big Daddy" to drag racing fans around the world. Always a pioneer in the field of drag racing, he perfected the rear-engine "top fuel dragster design", an innovation motivated by the loss of part of his foot in a dragster accident. This design was notably safer, since it put most of the fuel processing and rotating parts of the dragster behind the driver. The driver was placed in "clear air," in front of nearly all the mechanical components, thus protecting the driver and allowing him to activate a variety of safety equipment in the event of catastrophic mechanical failure or a fire. Garlits was also an early promoter of the full-body, fire-resistant driver's suit - complete with socks and gloves, often branded as Nomex. Garlits was the first drag racer to officially surpass the 170, 180, 200, 240, 250, and 270 miles per hour marks in the quarter mile; he was also the first to top 200 in the 1/8 mile. He has been inducted into several Halls of Fame and has won many awards during his career.

This sheetmetal freshening gave Ben a clear vision of the car's potential. Coupled with Plum Floored Creations, Paintshop101 gave the Super Bee a whole new flair with a relocated and heightened hood scoop, Coronet R/T-inspired side scoops, and most striking, the modified front fascia.
