The Hurricane entered squadron service in 1937 and was the workhorse of Britain's air defense during World War II. It became renowned during the Battle of Britain, accounting for 60 percent of the RAF air victories in the battle.The Mk.IID was the tropicalized version mainly used in North Africa after the entry of Italy in the war. Although outclassed in the air by the Luftwaffe's Me-109 and Italy's MC.202, the Hurricane retained an edge in ground-attack role due to its impressive armament. It was nicknamed "Flying Can Openers" due to a pair of 40mm Vickers anti-tank cannon fitted under each wing. It has been restored to its wartime condition by The Fighter Collection, a private operator of airworthy vintage military aircraft based at historic Duxford Airfield in Cambridgeshire, UK.

F9F Panther Silver/Black Postage Stamp Collection The F9F Panther was Grumman's first jet-powered aircraft and was used extensively by the US Navy and Marine Corps as their primary fighter and ground-attack aircraft in the Korean War. It was a single-engined carrier fighter with permanently mounted wing tip fuel tanks, armed with four 20 mm (0.79 in) cannons and a wide assortment of air-to-ground munitions.Blue-tail fly is a term popularized in the Southern folk song "Jimmy Crack Corn". When the tail on Lt. Richard Clinite's all-aluminum Panther sustained heavy flak damage it was replaced with the tail from a damaged blue-painted Panther giving Lt. Richard Clinite's plane it's distinctive look. He successfully flew several missions on this plane until it was so badly hit by flak that it was permanently grounded for major repair.

The B-25 Mitchell is a medium bomber named in honor of General Billy Mitchell, a United States Army general who is widely regarded as the father of the US Air Force. The B-25 is a two-engine propeller driven aircraft with an H-tail configuration and is considered to be a safe and reliable aircraft. It was used extensively during World War II by the Allies, especially on the Pacific Front. Panchito was assigned to Captain Don Sailer of the 396th Bomb Group in the Central Pacific. He named it after the feisty Mexican rooster from the 1943 animated musical "Three Caballeros". It was restored to vintage flying conditions in 1986. It is available for rides at various airshows across the country and is based out of the Delaware Aviation Museum Foundation in Georgetown, DE.

Curtiss JN4 "Jenny" - USAASPostage Stamp CollectionDie-cast model with a plastic stand The JN-4 "Jenny" was a single-engine, 2-seater biplane built by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company as a training aircraft for the US Army. Curtiss combined the best features of the model J and model N trainers, and developed the JN or "Jenny". It was widely used during World War I to train beginning pilots, but its more significant role in aviation history was as a barnstorming and mail-carrying airplane in the 1920s.Thousands of Jennys were sold at surplus prices to private owners in the years after the war and helped awaken the US to civil aviation through much of the 1920s. The Smithsonian acquired this Jenny in 1918 directly from the U.S. War Department. It is currently on static display at National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia
