So-Cal Speed Shop - 1932 Ford Hot Rod Pickup in Red and White Limited Edition - Estimated production is 400 Pieces Features Include: • Opening doors, hood, and tailgate • Poseable steering • Wired and plumbed Chevrolet engine • Detailed interior • Detailed chassis • Diecast metal body • Serialized plate first sample images - final product will vary slightyUnlike many tales, the story of the So-Cal Speed Shop is not one made up by some clever marketing types; it's a true story of friendship, hot rods and the need for speed. The story begins on March 22, 1922, in Los Angeles, California, with the birth of Alex Xydias. Although his father was a prominent producer of silent movies, Alex's childhood was fairly normal, and like most young boys, he naturally gravitated towards automobiles. His first hot rod, a '29 Ford roadster with a milled head and a chopped flywheel, which he drove to Fairfax High School, was paid for with part-time earnings. However, his life, like that of so many young men, was about to change when, in 1942, he joined the Army Air Corps, serving as a B-17 engineer. On the day of his discharge-March 3, 1946-using some borrowed money, Alex opened the first So-Cal Speed Shop on Olive Avenue in Burbank. Over the following decades, So-Cal Speed Shop would build some of the most iconic hot rods for many of the most notable collectors on the planet. Their innovation and attention to detail set the bar in the hot rod industry.

He is known as "Big Daddy" to drag racing fans around the world. Always a pioneer in the field of drag racing, he perfected the rear-engine "top fuel dragster design", an innovation motivated by the loss of part of his foot in a dragster accident. This design was notably safer, since it put most of the fuel processing and rotating parts of the dragster behind the driver. The driver was placed in "clear air," in front of nearly all the mechanical components, thus protecting the driver and allowing him to activate a variety of safety equipment in the event of catastrophic mechanical failure or a fire. Garlits was also an early promoter of the full-body, fire-resistant driver's suit - complete with socks and gloves, often branded as Nomex. Garlits was the first drag racer to officially surpass the 170, 180, 200, 240, 250, and 270 miles per hour marks in the quarter mile; he was also the first to top 200 in the 1/8 mile. He has been inducted into several Halls of Fame and has won many awards during his career.

Prock and Howell - 1933 Gasser Limited Edition - Strictly Limited to 400 Pieces Features: • Opening doors, hood, and trunk • Removable top and boot • Poseable steering • Plumbed and wired engine • Tilting front seats • Detailed undercarriage • Serialized plate Actual car photo, final production model may varyTom Prock and Jay Howell formed one of the most interesting and successful drag racing partnerships of the late 1960s back in 1967/68. At the time, Howell was working at the famed Logge Stamping Company overseeing their shop. Logge was a very large volume producer of drag racing chassis at that time and along with all of their other projects, a guy named Tom Prock had a 1933 Willys that he wanted updated. Instead of going the standard direction, the guys put a Logge funny car chassis under it and were quickly informed by NHRA officials at their first event that the car was not legal to run there or anywhere in the gas classes due to said chassis. They raced the car here and there in 1968 on the match race circuit and then figured it was all done. Then the phone rang in early 1969 and the boys decided to hitch up with a couple of other gassers, load a nitro burning 426 hemi into the front of their car and travel the country as "outlaw gassers". The F-Troop '33 Willys is legend for wild runs with Howell at the wheel. The car went into the 180s and in various interviews, Howell said that the thing was a complete handful to get down the track at those speeds. We can only imagine.

The Monkeemobile was one of the most desired custom cars of Sixties television.Created by car customizer Dean Jeffries, the Monkeemobile began life as a 1966 Pontiac GTO before it was chopped, tweaked, and twisted! Its original design featured a huge 6-71 supercharger fitted to the exposed engine giving the car so much horsepower that the TV cast found it hard to control! Later, this setup was reduced to a mock supercharger mounted over the stock Pontiac engine. Two Monkeemobiles were constructed — #1 was used on the TV show. #2 was built as a back-up car and stunt car if needed. Its main job would be the show car circuit of the 60s. Life-size stand-ups of all four Monkees traveled with the show car and were displayed along side the car.Auto World is proud to recreate this zany die-cast pop cuture icon, including the cutouts of the “Prefab Four”.

They could be bought in either Standard or Deluxe trim, depending on the buyer’s need for personal luxury or added amenities. Under the hood of the 1934 Ford was the 221ci flathead V8 engine with a 3.0625in bore and 3.75in stroke that produced 85hp. Ford sold a total of 28,492 units of the standard 3-window coupe and 27,956 Deluxe 3-window coupes.Returning from WWII and getting back to work with some money in their pockets, Americans discovered a new pastime…hot rodding. The 1930s-era Ford was ripe for the picking. By the late 1940s, the Model Bs and Model 18s were well over a decade old, making them cheap to buy with parts readily available. Hot rodders bought them up in droves wrenching in their garages turning these once-tame suburban coaches into fire-breathing monsters! The hot-rodding trend continued strong well into the 1960s. Even today, the 1934 Ford 3-window coupe remains one of the most sought-after hot-rodding platforms.

1953 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible in Alpine WhiteMade of diecast metalFeatures Include:• Opening doors and hood• Accurate interior and chassis• Steerable front wheels• Detailed engineIn 1952, Cadillac was celebrating their 50-year golden anniversary. They needed an exquisite vehicle to epitomize their momentous milestone. The Cadillac Eldorado™ was the answer. The first generation of the Eldorado was produced from 1952 to 1953 only. It was the most expensive vehicle in their lineup. The sweeping lines, golden emblems, and breathtaking chrome detailing was irresistibly luxurious and 100% Cadillac quality. The name Eldorado loosely translates from Spanish to “The Golden One.” It also references El Dorado, the South American lost city of gold. If Cadillac set out to establish the gold standard of luxury, they succeeded with the Eldorado.Auto World has replicated this rolling work of art in factory-matched Alpine White, wire wheels, and enough chrome for two vehicles! We’ve even replicated the white soft top in the “up” position. Under the hood is the highly-detailed 331ci V8 with 4-speed transmission.

1971 Plymouth GTX Hardtop in EV2 Tor RedFeatures Include:• Opening doors, trunk, and hood• Accurate interior and chassis• Steerable front wheels• Detailed engine In 1971, the Plymouth GTX played the role as the more luxurious courterpart to the stripped-down Plymouth Road Runner. The early 1970s began the drawdown of the big-dogs in the muscle car world. At 385hp, the 1971 GTX 440+6 remained mostly unchanged from a power standpoint from the previous years. It was a beast that competed with the best of the muscle cars of the day running under 14 seconds in the quarter mile, topping off at more than 100mph through the traps. After 1971, the GTX became an optional package on the Road Runner, rather than a stand-alone badge.
