Each new year added more convenience, like the independent front suspension and pocketed taillights for more clearance in a loading dock. By 1978, Dodge was adding models with special graphics and trim that were considered “lifestyle” pickups marketed as specialty, personal-use trucks. The 1980 D150 Dodge Adventurer Sport model was a continuation of these trends. It had plenty of power with its 2.6 liter engine carbureted with the MCA-JET system. Weighing in at 2,563 lb. it is a hefty truck with a max payload of just over 1,500 lb.Auto World presents this Adventurer with wide slotted rims, bucket seats and a Utiline bed, all wrapped in the Stars and Stripes of the American flag. The Monkeemobile was one of the most desired custom cars of Sixties television.Created by car customizer Dean Jeffries, the Monkeemobile began life as a 1966 Pontiac GTO before it was chopped, tweaked, and twisted! Its original design featured a huge 6-71 supercharger fitted to the exposed engine giving the car so much horsepower that the TV cast found it hard to control! Later, this setup was reduced to a mock supercharger mounted over the stock Pontiac engine.Two Monkeemobiles were constructed — #1 was used on the TV show. #2 was built as a back-up car and stunt car if needed. Its main job would be the show car circuit of the 60s. Life-size stand-ups of all four Monkees traveled with the show car and were displayed along side the car.Auto World is proud to recreate this zany die-cast pop cuture icon, including the cutouts of the “Prefab Four”.

The flathead V8 was upped to 255 CID and now producing 110 horsepower—slightly more power than the also newly designed 1949 Ford Coupe. A new overdrive system was optional, activated by a handle under the dash. The Mercury Eight used full instrumentation found in round dials, two on either side of the large central speedometer, and an optional eight-tube radio and electric clock were centered on the dashboard. The styling of the Mercury Eight, when it was released in 1949, adopted the “pontoon” appearance, and was successful in both ending the monotony of warmed-over pre-war style, and differentiating Mercury from its comparable Ford cousin, a trick that spelled sales success. The 1949 Mercury Eight production totaled an astounding 301,307 units, far and away Mercury's best ever year.

The D series was a line of pickup trucks that was sold by Dodge from 1961 to 1980, over three distinct generations. The list of changes Dodge made to the D Series was extensive, and included both substantial mechanical upgrades as well as smaller features that could be added together to create overall pleasant experience.The custom-truck scene blossomed into a lifestyle on the West Coast, with trucks of all types used to haul cool toys. Dodge capitalized on this trend by creating adult toys with special graphics packages across many of their vehicle lines. This particular black exterior body includes the traditional Utiline bed and custom trim referred to as Gradated Sport Stripes. The multi-colored stripes consists of large DODGE lettering at the bottom of the doors that go from the rockers up and run to the back of the truck. The tailgate has huge PICK-M-UP lettering as well as matching stripes which wrap around the top of the hood.

Blues Brothers - 1974 Dodge Monaco Police Pursuit in Black and White Made of diecast metalFeatures Include:• Opening hood• Accurate interior and chassis• Steerable front wheels• Detailed engineProminently featured in the 1980 Universal Pictures film The Blues Brothers, this 1974 Dodge Monaco was a decommissioned Mount Prospect police car, purchased by Elwood Blues at an auction after he traded a previous car (a 1968 Cadillac Sixty Special) for a microphone. When describing the car to his brother Jake Blues, Elwood says, “It’s got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It’s got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas.” The sedan has the ability to perform seemingly impossible stunts, such as flipping backwards in midair and even “flying” for very brief periods of time. Clearly unimpressed, especially considering the cigarette lighter does not work, Elwood slams on the gas and jumps over an open drawbridge. Jake nonchalantly states, “Car’s got a lot of pickup.” Elwood retorts, “So what do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?” Jake replies, “Fix the cigarette lighter.”
