Texaco - 1941 Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk - #2 (2019) in the Fuel For Victory SeriesWorld War II changed everything for TEXACO, and with the entry of the United States into the war in 1941, TEXACO became a key supplier of aircraft lubricant products for the Allied forces. 6-billion barrels, out of a total of 7-billion barrels consumed by the Allies for the period of 1941-1945 came from the United States of America, and without the prodigious delivery of oil from TEXACO, WWII quite frankly may not have ended with victory. Built at the Curtiss facility in Buffalo, New York during 1940-1941, the fighter was delivered to the US Army Air Corp in March 1941. It was quickly sent to Wheeler Field, Hawaii in April of that year, becoming part of the 19th Pursuit Squadron of the 18th Pursuit Group. In October 1941, seven months after delivery, the P-40 was involved in a wheels-up landing, requiring her to be placed in a maintenance hangar for repair.The aircraft was still in the hanger undergoing repairs when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. During this time, Cadillac began trimming its vehicle lineup, slowly phasing out the lower-end models and the super-luxurious V16 monsters. The consolidation of brands and models was a wise move to survive WWII. The war took its toll on the entire car industry, and Cadillac was no exception. By 1947, Cadillac was only producing 12 models under 4 different series—nearly a quarter of their output from just 6 years earlier. As WWII ended and Americans returned to work, people ordered new cars by the thousands. From 1946 into 1947, there were over 100,000 unfulfilled orders. Weathering the storm of demand, 84% of cars produced by Cadillac in 1947 were the Series 62.Auto World is proud to bring you this 1947 Cadillac Series 62 soft top in a custom metallic green exterior, dark green and cream interior, and tan soft top. Messerschmitt Bf109E-4 - Germany, 1940 Features Include:• Detailed crew figures• Rotating Propellers • Visable Gun Bay• Optional landing gear This distinctive Messerschmitt Bf 109E fighter from Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 was equipped with a Telefunken designed Peil Gerat IV electronic radio direction finder unit, one of the first airborne interception units of its kind to be fitted in a Luftwaffe nightfighter. More of an onboard direction indicator than an actual interception radar unit, the Peil G IV featured the installation of a new cockpit indicator display which required the pilot to keep a needle coated in luminous paint in the centre of the display and he knew that if he kept the needle in this central location, his aircraft was heading for the transmitting aircraft detected. Although still relatively primitive, this system allowed the pilot to fly his aircraft and effect the interception, as opposed to being preoccupied with constantly checking his course, something which greatly helped pilots of single seat fighters. Although actually not all that effective in operation, the Peil Gerat IV unit would provide valuable research data for use in future projects, which would eventually lead to the introduction of much more capable systems. In the specialised role of night interceptions, single seat Luftwaffe fighters were not particularly suitable for the task, as their lack of range/loitering capability and the sheer workload placed on the pilot were both significant limiting factors and it didn't take long before the larger twin engined Messerschmitt Bf 110 and Junkers Ju88 aircraft were assigned to this role.

Consolidated PBY-5A CatalinaPostage Stamp CollectionProduced by Consolidated Aircraft, the PBY Catalina was a flying boat which later became an amphibious aircraft, used by several countries in the 1930's and 1940's. It is a long range aircraft, which did not require a runway to operate, as it was capable of both take-off and landing on the water. The PBY's uses included maritime patrol, bombing, anti-submarine warfare, and search and rescue missions. Remembered for their role in rescuing downed airmen, the PBY saved thousands of lives. Catalina airmen referred to their aircraft as the "Cat" on combat missions and "Dumbo" during air-sea rescue. The name Black Cats refers to a select group of squadrons whose mission it was to strike at night. Painting their aircraft matte black, installing special radar and flame dampers over the exhaust ports, and often using only the lights on their instrument gauges to guide them, these squadrons were virtually undetectable at night. This Die-cast metal airplane model comes in 1:150 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 5 1/8 inches long with 8 1/4 inch wingspan.

It is the most produced fighter aircraft in history, with a total of 33,984 airframes produced from 1936 up to April 1945.German Ace Adolf Galland flew the Bf 109 during the campaign against France in 1940 and was commander of Fighter Wing JG62 during the Battle of Britain, by the end of which he had destroyed 58 enemy planes. In November 1941 he was promoted to the post of commander of the Luftwaffe's Fighter Arm, and a year later he was promoted to major general, becoming at age 30 the youngest general in the German armed forces.
