1971 383 Plymouth Cuda HT in Violet Limited Edition - Estimated Production 400 Pieces Features Include: • Opening doors, hood, and trunk• Poseable steering• Highly detailed 383 engine• Detailed undercarriage • Folding front seats • Detailed interior • Diecast metal body Actual car photo, final production model may varyThere's little doubt that the 1971 Hemi 'Cuda is the Holy Grail of muscle cars! It's the one muscle car that stands out for being the first American muscle car to demand north of the million dollar mark at auction (in 2014). But the status of the Hemi Cuda is not new; it has long been lusted for as a legendary muscle car with sinister looks and the power to back it up. First, yes, it's In Violet paint (commonly referred to as Plum Crazy), that wild and eye-grabbing '70s pop-culture hue that practically defined Mopar performance machinery. Both models have white seating and door panels with black dashboard and carpet. Under the hood you'll find the 383 Big Block Wedge powerplant which was designed to be a great combination of thrift and performance. Few Detroit muscle machines had the same impact as the 1971 Cuda with lightning acceleration, flamboyant paint and styling.

He is known as "Big Daddy" to drag racing fans around the world. Always a pioneer in the field of drag racing, he perfected the rear-engine "top fuel dragster design", an innovation motivated by the loss of part of his foot in a dragster accident. This design was notably safer, since it put most of the fuel processing and rotating parts of the dragster behind the driver. The driver was placed in "clear air," in front of nearly all the mechanical components, thus protecting the driver and allowing him to activate a variety of safety equipment in the event of catastrophic mechanical failure or a fire. Garlits was also an early promoter of the full-body, fire-resistant driver's suit - complete with socks and gloves, often branded as Nomex. Garlits was the first drag racer to officially surpass the 170, 180, 200, 240, 250, and 270 miles per hour marks in the quarter mile; he was also the first to top 200 in the 1/8 mile. He has been inducted into several Halls of Fame and has won many awards during his career.
